The Rogue Scholar science blog archive launched last week. Going forward the focus is on improving the service and adding more blogs. This includes giving blog authors feedback on how they can improve their RSS/Atom feeds – used by the Rogue Scholar to collect and archive the blog content. Feedback for science blog publishers A good starting point is author information, which often can be improved.

The Rogue Scholar science blog archive launched with limited functionality on April 3rd. Interested science blogs can go to the sign-up page, provide some basic information via the sign-up form, and then will be added to the Rogue Scholar archive within two business days.

I’m thrilled to share that waywiser, my R package focused on providing framework-agnostic (but tidymodels-friendly) methods for assessing models fit to spatial data ¹ , has passed peer review and been accepted to rOpenSci.

One thing about ChatGPT is it has opened my eyes to some concepts I was dimly aware of but am only now beginning to fully appreciate. ChatGPT enables you ask it questions, but the answers depend on what ChatGPT “knows”. As several people have noted, what would be even better is to be able to run ChatGPT on your own content. Indeed, ChatGPT itself now supports this using plugins.

I haven’t blogged for a while, work and other reasons have meant I’ve not had much time to think, and mostly I blog to help me think. ChatGPT is obviously a big thing at the moment, and once we get past the moral panic (“students can pass exams using AI!”) there are a lot of interesting possibilities to explore.

How packages appear in r-universe Last month we explained how r-universe makes it easy to search and browse through the countless R packages, articles, and datasets to let you discover and learn new things. We are continuously growing this database by adding more R projects, to guide you through everything the R ecosystem has to offer. Currently r-universe is tracking and indexing of over 18.000 R packages.
