We are excited to announce that, with the support of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, NumFOCUS, and the R Consortium, we have begun the process of translating rOpenSci’s materials on best practices for software development, code review, and contribution to open source projects into Spanish.As part of this effort, we are also developing guidelines and tools for translating open source resources to reach a wider audience.
There are a few one-liners that I use in the shell to do some really nifty stuff. I struggle to quickly find and reuse these and asked for a solution on Mastodon.
OA.Report is an open-source tool that identifies research outputs organizations have supported, analyzes their openness (including OA policy compliance), and then streamlines taking action to make results more open.
In 2022, our focus was on building OA.Report (a blog on that coming soon! Join our mailing list to be notified). But, as 2022 becomes 2023, we wanted to take the chance to celebrate the other work we did to help make Open Access easy & equitable. So, without further ado: Our governance got an update as we joined Code for Science & Society (a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit), and our new advisory committee got to work.
The rOpenSci community is supported by our Code of Conduct with a clear description of unacceptable behaviors,instructions on how to make a report, and information on how reports are handled. We, the Code of Conduct Committee,are responsible for receiving, investigating, deciding, enforcing and reporting on all reports of potentialviolations of our Code.

The science blog archive that I have started to work on (see previous posts) finally has a name: the Rogue Scholar . I picked this name because I liked the description in the Urban Dictionary.
2022 was my best year for running to date. In 2021, my goal was to run 2021 km. For 2022, I wanted to see if I could run 2500 km and also to run 50 HM-or-more distance runs. I managed both and ended the year on a total of 2734 km. I also bagged two PBs for half marathon. Of course, if you subscribe to Strava or VeloViewer or whatever, you can get a nice data visualisation of your year in running.
Following up on the previous two updates this year ( Version 0.5 and a 2022 update and Version 0.6: CSL v1.0.2 ), here are some updates from the second half of 2022, as well as some statistics. The default-locale setting of some CSL styles is now respected.
Another post looking at Twitter data in R. It follows this one and this one. I wanted to look again at my tweeting frequency over the 12 years on Twitter, but this time do it in a calendar view. Something like a GitHub commit calendar would be perfect. I have used a library for this in the past.
