PKP, ABEC, and SciELO to host event in Brazil

Read in Portuguese

The Public Knowledge Project (PKP) partners with the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC Brasil) and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) to invite the academic community of scientific journals to participate in the PKP Event, to improve knowledge, best practices, and technological improvements for the use of PKP's Open Journal Systems (OJS).

This event is part of the commemorative calendar of the 25th anniversary of the PKP and the SciELO Program.

Brazil, one of the most significant users of OJS in the world, will host the PKP Event, on June 26 and 27, 2023, at Instituto Biologico in São Paulo.

The meeting is an excellent opportunity to meet and work with users of the OJS system in Brazil, improve its use for scientific journals, and implement technological improvements in the platform. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences, participate in workshops and work in groups.

The event is directed at editors, programmers, OJS administrators, and other members of editorial teams of scientific journals that use the system. Invited participants must be willing to share their problems, support other participants, and work on their journals.

It is important to emphasize that the PKP Event is not a congress or conference but a set of workshops conducted by the participants. Despite having plenary sessions to discuss the challenges and future of the OJS, the structure will include workshops in which each participant will explore and implement changes in their journals. In addition, participants will be able to work in groups on their topics of interest.
