Dr Georg Fischer studied Sociology of Technology and Science at TU Berlin. For his PhD, he examined the relationship between German copyright law and creativity in sample-based music culture. His research interests include the media industry, copyright, collection societies, Creative Commons, academic publishing, the Open Access movement, and qualitative and historical research methods. He publishes academic and journalistic pieces, as well as blog posts.
