This edited collection is intended as an inaugural volume in the new ‘Children’s Film and Television’ book series, published by Edinburgh University Press.

Editors: Professor Anna Backman Rogers, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Dr Houman Sadri, University of South-Eastern Norway Since their publication in 1865 and 1871 respectively, Lewis Carroll’s Alice novels have inspired a wealth of academic and artistic interpretations and re-interpretations.

This collection initially examines cinematic, televisual, literary, visual and poetic representations of body parts who are vitalized, autonomized, individuated and animated. They become independent entities with a mind of their own.

Nuns have a presence in cinema as longstanding as the medium itself, including the 1922 horror film Haxan . 2021’s Benedetta , a controversial but successful Paul Verhoeven film, is a recent restatement of the capacity for stories about women religious, or women in vocation normally called nuns, to be the source of powerful and successful works across all conceivable genres.

Chapter contributions are welcomed for an edited scholarly volume on the global impact of streaming services, crucially Netflix. The American company Netflix has, owing to its pioneering role, become synonymous with the world of streaming. The growing list of “Netflix Nations” (to invoke the title of Ramon Lobato’s 2019 book) means that there are only a few territories such as China, Iran, North Korea, and Syria that remain outside its purview.

You are invited to submit a pitch for the inaugural edition of Reflections: A TV Foundation Review , the new publication produced in collaboration with The TV Foundation, the Edinburgh Television Festival charity, and Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. CfP: edited collection on Utopian Fictions Essays Dismantling Popular Myths about Utopia and Dystopia in Literature, Film, and Television Utopia has an image problem. In today’s political discourse, utopianism is often read in two competing directions.

Tales of explorers and adventurers often blur the line between science and fiction, with chronicles of the exotic and the unknown becoming the stuff of legends and the building blocks of history. Explorer’s tales spin heroic stories of adventures that cross borders, shatter boundaries, develop new knowledge, and, in so doing, depict the causes and consequences of seeking dominion over people and places.
