library of the future – update

Two quick updates:

• JISC asked me for a podcast today and we did about 5-7 minutes over Skype. It gives a medium term vision from my point of view.
• Richard Akerman – thanks – has sent many useful resources, see below

Richard: I would be remiss if I didn't point to a few resources.

Roy Tennant made a good observation that there are two groups of
"tech" librarians

1) Social software users and advocates, and

2) Hardcore coders.

and they actually circulate in two different communities with separate
conferences.

"The Bloggers have settled into the Information Today conferences
Computers in Libraries and Internet Librarian and also LITA via
BIGWIG, whereas the Coders tend to go to Access and have even created
their own conference from scratch, Code4Lib."

If you scan the past and current agendas/presentations from those
conferences, it will give a bit of a sense of the scope of the
"technology-enabled library" activities.

Also these conferences are all very actively blogged and tweeted.
