Funding for the Open Library of Humanities from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

As detailed over on the OLH site, I am very pleased to be able to say that we have secured a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to launch the Open Library of Humanities!

To quote:

We are delighted to be able to announce that the OLH is being funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, who have provided a substantial start-up grant to the University of Lincoln to build the technological platform, business model and prepare for launching both our megajournal and monograph pilot scheme. This is fantastic news and signals the significant international interest in the OLH.

With the funds provided by the Foundation, we will spend the next 12 months undertaking three core tasks:

1. building our business model to ensure the sustainability of the OLH
2. soliciting articles and processing them through our rigorous peer reviewed system
3. constructing the technological infrastructure (in partnership with Ubiquity Press)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with supporting the OLH for all your hard work in advocating for a sustainable open access megajournal within the humanities scholarly communities. We're extremely excited about the build-up to our launch, which is now financially secure. We're grateful to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for their commitment to helping us to build the OLH – an initiative that would also not be possible without the initial support given by the University of Lincoln and Birkbeck, University of London. Furthermore, the project would not be possible without the help of our many global supporters, with whom we look forward to working over the coming months.
