pdfdown: in-browser PDF to markdown

Feature image

I got Fable to help me create a little web app for myself. Maybe it's useful to you. The pdfdown page at stephenturner.github.io/pdfdown lets you upload a PDF file or paste in a link to a PDF and it converts the PDF to markdown, locally, in your browser.

The markdown on the left hand side is editable. You get a preview of the rendered markdown on the right hand side. You can copy or download the markdown, as well as copy the rich test or download a rendered HTML file.

If you paste in a link it'll grab that PDF and convert to markdown. The URL you get is shareable. E.g., you can paste in the URL to the PDF of the recent BioTIER paper at https://arxiv.org/pdf/2607.14479, and you'll get back the rendered output with the shareable URL in your address bar: https://stephenturner.github.io/pdfdown/#url=https%3A%2F%2Farxiv.org%2Fpdf%2F2607.14479
